About East Kent Mencap:
We are a leading charity supporting people with learning disabilities to live independently and be part of their community. Our GOLD (Getting On with Learning Difficulties) Project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, supports individuals in Thanet who receive little or no statutory support.
About the Role:
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Community Inclusion Advocate to support and advocate for people with learning disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard. You will help individuals access services, develop skills for independent living, and promote inclusion in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advocate for the rights of people with learning disabilities.
- Support individuals in navigating welfare benefits (PIP, ESA, Universal Credit).
- Build community connections and facilitate social events.
- Assist with employment, education, and housing opportunities.
- Work on externally funded projects to increase sustainability.
