GOLD (Getting On with Learning Difficulties) has recently launched a new Living Skills group. The first part of the programme is a 12-week course designed to support people with a learning difficulty in developing their budgeting and cooking skills, covering everything from researching the cheapest ingredients to how to cook low-cost healthy meals.
Rosie said, “I am learning new skills every week. I enjoy researching the food prices to find out which shop is cheapest; it is so surprising.”
Nicola said, “I like being part of a group and Leonora is such a good teacher, she goes at the pace that is right for me.”
Dan suggested that the group try making crisps in the air fryer as a healthier and cheaper alternative to shop-bought crisps – it was a great success.
Next week they are going to the @socialenterprisekitchen to buy their cooking ingredients to make chicken pie.
