GOLD (Getting On with Learning Difficulties) Project has partnered with arts organisation, Looping The Loop for Social Singing Sessions.
Singing has been shown to boost your mood, reduce stress and improve your wellbeing. This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week and the 12 week programme of singing for people with learning difficulties at Foresters Hall, Ramsgate, is a valuable opportunity to promote positive mental health.
Fiona Wonford, GOLD Project Manager at East Kent Mencap, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Looping The Loop with their new Social Singing Sessions. We understand the significant impact of singing on wellbeing, and believe that important initiatives like this can help to combat social isolation and build a stronger sense of belonging in our local community. We have only had a couple of singing sessions and the marked difference in everyone’s confidence is already noticeable.”
Estelle Rosenfeld, producer of the Social Singing Sessions, said, “It’s about the joy of singing, no pressure, just pleasure. Participants are invited to let their natural voices shine, in a setting that values pleasure over perfection. It’s an opportunity to relieve stress, enhance mood, and connect with others in a fun and uplifting environment.”
