This week we celebrated British Sign Language Week and raised awareness for this important visual means of communication.

Amy attends our Margate Hub signing sessions every week. They have been learning how to sign colours and numbers.

Amy said, “I first learnt to sign in 2022, I did it for my East Kent Mencap Spring Forward Challenge. It’s good to sign as you can learn so much more. My favourite song to sign is ‘This is me’ and I love to teach other people to sign.”

Signing at our Swale Hub

Support Worker, Gemma, leads our Swale Hub signing sessions every week.

The group is currently learning to sign through songs, as well as learning their sign of the week, which they help others to learn outside of the session. They are passionate about using sign language throughout the day.
