Here, Vickie talk about her experience of working as a Support Worker within our children & youth team, and why she enjoys it.
I started volunteering for East Kent Mencap in 2008 and was later taken on as a member of staff. I’ve spent time within all of the services offered by East Kent Mencap and enjoyed every minute of it.
The staff at East Kent Mencap are hard working and dedicated to giving members the same opportunities as everyone else.
Whilst working at East Kent Mencap, I have seen many young adults develop their skills and grow in confidence. During my time here, I feel I have also grown as a person and am honoured to have shared the past six years with such great people.
I was sad to leave but will still be volunteering for the children & youth department, as well as attending the drama groups’ fantastic performances.
