We are thrilled to announce that Herne Bay Hub Senior Support Worker, Vicki Wilks, won the ‘Putting People First Award’ at the Kent Integrated Care Alliance (KiCA) Awards 2024.
The award’s evening took place at the Mercure Great Danes Hotel, in Maidstone on Friday 13th September. Vicki Wilks attended the event with Holly and Emma, who use East Kent Mencap’s services, together with Louise McAlpine and Kelly Forrest, Herne Bay Hub Coordinators.
Vicki Wilks, said, “The whole evening was incredible. I was honoured to get nominated but winning took it to another level. I never thought I would be awarded for something I love doing. I am grateful every day that I have this role and everything I do is for people with a learning disability to ensure they are supported, having a great time, and gaining new experiences.”
Louise McAlpine, Herne Bay Hub Coordinator, said, “Vicki’s dedication and passion for supporting people with a learning disability is inspiring and this recognition is so well deserved. We are very proud of our incredible team and the positive impact they make every day.”
Emma said, “I enjoyed going to the awards and meeting new people. Everyone was really nice and we had a lovely meal. I would like to go again!”
This is the 9th Annual Kent Care Awards, organised by KiCA; a collaborative social enterprise that helps shape the future of social care and health in Kent and Medway.
